Brevard Fire Chief Farmer Resigns

VIERA, Fla. – Today Brevard County Manager Peggy Busacca accepted Fire Chief Bill Farmer’s request to be reassigned within the Fire Rescue department. Farmer will be temporarily reassigned to the operations division of the department.

Deputy Fire Chief Dennis Neterer has been appointed Interim Chief, effective immediately.

Neterer has been employed with the Brevard County Fire Rescue department for 29 and ½ years and has multiple firefighting and paramedic certifications. He began his career as a fire recruit and elevated through the ranks during his career with the department. Neterer has a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Central Florida.

In assuming the leadership role, Chief Neterer will lead 550 firefighters and staff members. Neterer will work with County Management to review the Fire Department’s organizational structure, which has already begun with the recent restructuring of finance and administrative services functions.
