Needelman lies to BML audience about allegations he made in HomeTown News interview

Says “what you see on the web site is what I control on the web site, and nothing has changed on that”.

Hear it straight from the horse’s mouth:

I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t heard it myself – Mr. Needelman acknowledged he controls the content of his campaign web site, and flat out lied when he said nothing on that site had changed in regards to him alleging incumbent Scott Ellis has unsuccessfully sued the county a number of times in the last eight years.

Needelman decides it’s easier to re-write history than apologize for another ‘mistake’

August 21, 2008 by Matthew Nye · Leave a Comment

I stumbled across an interesting post on the Florida Today Clerk’s forum in which a poster called “WeNeedMitch” was making the claim that an article written by Scott Ellis and posted on this site contained a statement which was never made by Mr. Needelman.

Another Error and Lecture on Clerk’s DHSMV Hearings Report

Needelman ‘Third Audit Protocol’ Fails Again

Contrary to Mr. Needelman’s comments  below on the DHSMV report conducted by the Clerk’s Office, the number of officers mentioned by name in the report is ZERO.

The entire report is pasted below, as well as the rules for Third Audit Protocol fact checking allegedly implemented after the “Scott Ellis signed the check for the Sarno Landfill” tale was exposed by the simple fact I was not the Clerk at the time of the sale.

Most recent EELs land purchase brings Brevard full circle

August 18, 2008 by Administrator · Leave a Comment

Those that fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it…

In May of 2000 Brevard County purchased property for a supposed landfill expansion for $7.2 million, land alleged to be critical to the future of the Sarno Landfill.

The deal was rushed through in weeks and was passed via the Consent Agenda with no public discussion.  The sellers had an option on the land, such that they bought it in the morning for $1.2 million and sold it to the County for $7.2 million in the afternoon.

Perfect non-endorsement record remains intact

It’s not Office Operations, it’s Going Along to Get Along

The Florida Today shockingly has endorsed Mitch Needelman for ‘change’ for the Clerk’s Office. Perhaps the biggest shock was the endorsement did not burn all of its print with a Scott Ellis slam and what was sent my way was at least related to the office, even if it was off the mark.

Why should anyone care how much Needelman’s home is worth?

Needelman supporter says I’m getting personal
Basic math skills are prerequisite for Clerk’s job

I just received a comment from a reader in response to one of my posts wondering why anyone should care how much Needelman’s home is worth.

For those that aren’t aware, Mr. Needelman assigned a value of $595K to his home on his Form 6 personal financial statement in June of this year, while the property appraiser shows a market value of $247K and an assessed value of $155K for 2007. As the real estate market has continued to decline this year, it is hard to imagine Mr. Needelman’s home has doubled in value in the year since it was assessed.

Clerk of courts race turns nasty online

August 11, 2008 by Administrator · 1 Comment

Online chats and mass e-mails from one candidate show the contest for clerk of the court as a heated fight for political survival in Brevard County.

Florida Today – Incumbent Scott Ellis says challenger Mitch Needelman is planning a smear campaign in the race that will be determined in the Aug. 26 primary, while Needelman says Ellis is already running one.

Questions for the Needelman campaign

August 11, 2008 by Matthew Nye · 3 Comments

This is a copy of a request I submitted through Mr. Needelman’s web site this morning.

Mr. Needelman, I frequented the Florida Today forums regarding your race this weekend, and a couple of questions arose that I would like to see answered.

You said on Bill Mick’s show last Thursday you have been in business since 1997, and your campaign workers on the forum have consistently made the case one of the reasons you are qualified to be Clerk is because you have been a small business owner for years. A quick trip to the State’s Division of Corporations web site doesn’t quite bear this out, however.

Needelman apologizes for Sarno Landfill comments

August 10, 2008 by Matthew Nye · Leave a Comment

Editors’s Note: This is a copy of the apology Mr. Needelman posted on his web site after accusing Ellis of signing off on the Sarno Landfill deal on Bill Mick’s show Thursday, August 7. Ellis hadn’t been sworn into office at the time Needelman said he signed the check as Clerk. Click here for audio:

To: Mr. Scott Ellis
From: Rep. Mitch Needelman
Date: Saturday August 9, 2008
Subject: Sarno Landfill Comments on Bill Mick

Scott,

I wish to convey my sincere apology to Mr. Ellis for the inaccurate statement made on the Bill Mick radio show regarding Mr. Ellis’ signature on the check for the Sarno Rd. Landfill.

My campaign team follows a strict verification protocol for every piece of information received. It is checked and rechecked before release to the public. Somehow this issue did not go through this process before being released.

I take full responsibility for this error.

To prevent recurrence of this oversight I have implemented a third audit protocol that will test each item yet again before certifying it for release. All information scheduled for future release has been re-examined under this new policy and found to be accurate and true.

Our voters can be confident that the information coming from my campaign is truthful and relevant to the race for Clerk of Courts. The information is based on documented information checked and double checked and you can be assured it is factual.

Again my sincere apologies to Mr. Ellis.

Needelman ‘facts’ differ from reality

August 9, 2008 by Matthew Nye · 2 Comments

Smear campaign backfires

The clerk’s race is probably one of the most interesting races this year because we have Republican Mitch Needelman, who has a strong legislative background, trying to take out Republican incumbent Scott Ellis.

In addition to turning around the Clerk’s office when he took over, Ellis has been an outspoken advocate for the taxpayers of Brevard County during his eight year tenure as Clerk of the Courts.
