During my campaign for the District 1 County Commission seat I compiled some data to show the fiscal challenges Brevard County would be facing in the years to come. As you can see from the charts and graphs below, the data for November indicates the recession is quickening in Brevard County.
The information presented here should be a concern for all who live and work here in Brevard – this is especially true for small business owners who are dealing with an incredible slowdown in retail sales and government officials who are facing a significant reduction in property values. Read more
Florida Today Wins, Brevard Taxpayers Lose

The Brevard County Commission failed to support Commissioner Trudie Infantini’s request for a change in the County Manager, instead voting to ‘discuss’ the issue again in two months on January 27th, as if waiting an extra two months will enable the worm-ridden issues of Brevard County to metamorphosize into butterflies.

D3 Commissioner Infantini makes her case for terminating County Manager Peggy Busacca
The County Commission voted Tuesday to table discussion of the termination of County Manager Peggy Busacca’s contract until mid January. Commissioner Trudie Infantini, District 3, made her debut as well as waves by adding the item to the agenda last week.
Infantini, along with Commissioners Fisher, District 1 and Anderson, District 5, were sworn in last Tuesday.

Scottsmoor, the last little community in very north Brevard, Florida, will gasp its final breath and be laid to rest August 5, 2008 if the County Commission approves the vast Scottsmoor EEL purchases. Brevard County Faces Dramatic Decrease in Property Tax Revenue

Years ago, as the real estate bubble was expanding, we were all introduced to the “subprime mortgage.” It was a mortgage issued to someone of less than prime credit rating and, like the prime mortgages, it allowed for an adjustable interest rate beginning with extremely low teaser rates, interest only loans, and other exotic financing arrangements. Bizarre Budget Inquisition and Math Challenges

During a small discussion last Thursday at the County Budget Meeting discussion of the Clerk’s budget request over the issue of insurance and why we are forced to go to bid over the cost of the county insurance, an amiable discussion suddenly sidetracked into the Twilight Zone about the Clerk’s request.
