Regardless of your political position, you may be experiencing increased stress and frustration with the current political issues that are yet to be resolved. You may notice how many citizens are for the first time in their lives stepping out and becoming politically active to support and defend their beliefs, feeling that they cannot sit idly by while their ideologies and lifestyles are perceived to be at stake. If you are reading, watching or listening to politics you may find yourself experiencing stress as you hear views and possible changes that are in opposition to your own views and convictions. This stress may evolve to the point of experiencing depression, anxiety, agitation or even anger.
Four House Republicans ask for investigation into Sink’s use of state planes

A group of four House Republicans Chris Dorworth of Lake Mary, Steve Crisafulli of Merritt Island, Mike Horner of Kissimmee and Matt Hudson of Naples is asking state CFO Alex Sink to call an independent investigation of her use of the state plane.
Sink has ordered her office to conduct a thorough and immediate review into whether she misused the state plane to pick up and drop off family members. Sink reimbursed the state for the cost of those flights before questions were raised. But the lawmakers say the review might not be good enough. In this letter, they cite a story in which Sink reacts to a Miami Herald investigation of financier Allen Stanford, who struck a deal with state regulators to sell investments and move vast amounts of money offshore without government oversight.
Sink said the Office of Regulation should not investigate itself and the lawmakers are asking Sink to apply the same criteria to her office. If its good for the goose, it should be good for the gander, Dorworth said in an interview.

Statement on Governor Sarah Palin

Tallahassee - Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer released the following statement today regarding Alaska Governor Sarah Palins decision to not to seek re-election and to resign her position as Governor. On behalf of the Republican Party of Florida and Republicans across the state, I would like to thank Governor Palin for her service to our Party. She worked tirelessly to defend Republican principles throughout her service in state and local government and demonstrated tremendous courage as a historic candidate on the Republican presidential ticket in 2008. We respect her decision and wish Governor Palin and her family the very best as she moves forward.

What constitutes ‘Republicanism’?
February 24, 2009 by Tom Leser · Leave a Comment
As you are probably aware, the Brevard County Republican Executive Committee is under the new leadership of Chairman Jason Steele.
There has been a flurry of activity since he took over, and the local party has seen many improvements since the beginning of the new year: a new web site, a meetup group on meetup.com and a well attended black tie optional Lincoln Day Dinner just to name a few.
Local Republicans are eager to have their voices heard, and the new technology is making that possible. A news tidbit on the need for the Republican Party to shake off its big government ways sent to the meetup group by Republican committeeman Steve Townsend generated 36 emails over the course of two days. I think this goes to show there are a lot of Republicans that are still disgruntled by the liberal leaders, and elected officials, of the Republican Party.
What we need is a local party platform.

Florida Today Editorial makes my point brilliantly
August 29, 2008 by Matthew Nye · 1 Comment
Failure to distinguish between the essential and non-essential reduces heroes to status of scoundrels.
If you want proof of the decline of journalistic ethics, look no further than the Florida Today.
I had just posted my column about negative campaigns when I stumbled across this beauty on the Florida Today opinion page. Note their concern isn’t with finding the truth and halting the flow of misinformation – they want everyone to be able to spread lies freely, without having to worry about being ‘negatively’ attacked for not telling the truth.

Dissecting the ‘art of smear’
August 29, 2008 by Matthew Nye · 1 Comment
Negative attacks aren’t always wrong and sometimes required
The truth by itself isn’t ‘negative’ – it just is
There has been a lot made of the negative campaigns run by some of the candidates this primary season. I have heard from several long time Brevardians this is the nastiest election cycle they have ever seen. Because I was knee deep in covering what has been described as the nastiest of them all, I wanted to weigh in on this issue and share my thoughts.

The Tone and Tactics of Change in Politics
August 27, 2008 by Bill Mick · 2 Comments
The disappointing tone of this election year makes the job of voters much more difficult in making decisions on candidates.
This week nominees, and in some cases elected office holders, were selected in Tuesday’s Primary Election.
There were a lot of candidates and many decisions for us to make. We tried to do our part in bringing you the candidates that would make the time to come in on the show and share their visions for how your government should operate. As voters we have made that call and will now turn our attention to the General Election on November 4th. Given how some of this went, I am almost surprised that the electorate was able to make the call. And maybe we didn’t do that so well. As I write this, I have no idea.
